Our Story
Craig was a school chef and entrepreneur. He had previously owned a pizza shop on Cape Cod and was looking to sell pizzas as a fundraising product. Bob was a social worker with a green thumb and green ideals, and was looking for a place to sell his organic produce. When the two met in T’ai Chi class, sparks flew and ideas grew, and a business was born! In 2001, Hillside Pizza officially began as a fundraising operation at the Venture Center, a community kitchen run by the Franklin County Community Development Corporation in Greenfield, Mass.
In December 2006, driven by popular demand, our South Deerfield location opened as a restaurant and processing facility for our fundraisers, wholesale and catering enterprises. Since then, we have opened two more restaurant and fundraising bases in Hadley (2009) and Bernardston (2012).
As Hillside Pizza continues to grow and change, we still operate with a unique business mentality where “the bottom line” really isn’t the bottom line. We are proud of our efforts and accomplishments and so thankful to share our success with our restaurant patrons, fundraising partners, wholesale and fundraising customers, and catering clients.
We are…
A restaurant, fundraising company, and catering operation with a focus on sustainable and responsible business practices.
We believe…
That quality foods and a clean environment create thriving communities.
We strive…
To provide great-tasting, high-quality, and healthful foods to people in our communities.
